Looking forward to the summer but don't have any plans? CHANGE THAT RIGHT HERE! I'm setting you up with a list of unmissable east coast summer shows! Some punk, some rockabilly, and little bit of bluegrass, there's something for everyone to see these coming months. So follow me, east coast rock n' rollers! Let's approach this season the best way we know how.

I can't tell you how many times I skipped school to see this band, The Casualties. They're putting on shows May, 25th at Bogies in Albany, New York, May, 26th at The Depot in York, Pennsylvania, June, 16th at Ollie's Point in Amityville, New York, and I'll tell ya, if I was still in school, I'd be skipping again for at least one of these shows.

Next is another high school favorite of mine, Rancid. You can catch 'em May, 18th at Northern Lights, in Albany, New York, May, 19th at Black N Blue Bowl in New York, New York, in Boston, Massachusetts at the House of Blues on May, 20th, and again on May, 21st with New York City natives, Madball.

This next one is a ball-buster. The DC kings of hardcore, Bad Brains are playing in Boston, New York City, Brooklyn, and Philly, but every show is SOLD OUT. I know, I about died, but you can still catch them April 21st at The Howard Theatre in Washington DC, so don't you dare miss it! I don't care if it's Granny's 90th birthday, that old hag's had 89 of 'em!

These next guys you've probably not heard of but, trust me, they are worth seeing. Stupyd Cow is playing April, 21st in Mechanicsburg, Pennsylvania at Johnny Joe's Bar & Grill, in York, on May 4th at The Depot and on June 16th at Skid Row Garage. Go check these guys out! They're a three-piece of straight pop punk awesomeness, and if you don't like 'em, I will personally reimburse you for your cover charge.

Let's shake it up a bit with The Koffin Kats! Catch these kool kats April 23rd at the Sidebar in Baltimore, Maryland. Get it! Kool kats?! 'Cause they spell their name with Ks! ...Alright I'll do us all a favor and leave comedy to the comedians.

Next is a tour of four groups of badassness. The Chop Tops, The Strikers, Radio Threat, and Danny B. Harvey, from Austin, Texas. They've got a huge list of up-coming shows, starting in Winston-Salem, North Carolina on July, 8th at Heavy Rebel Weekender. Their going up the coast having shows in Virginia, Pennsylvania, Massachusetts, New Jersey, Maryland, New York, and then back down the coast to South Carolina. Finally, they end their east coast rendezvous with five shows in Florida, the last being in Fort Walton Beach at Coasters on July, 22nd, and then their heading back west, hitting nearly every venue on the way.

Need a little blues in the mix? Check out the bad boys of bluegrass, Old Crow Medicine Show, as they wrap up their Ketch & Critter Reunion Tour at the Spoleto Festival in Charleston, South Carolina on May, 24th, and at the Banjo-B-Que Festival in Evans, Georgia on May 26th. Catch them one last time at the Romp Fest in Owensboro, Kentucky on June, 29th.

Anyone going to the Firefly Festival? Well, be sure to catch The Felice Brothers while you're there. The fest is in Dover, Delaware on July 20th, 21st, and 22nd, but before then, you can see these guys in Rhode Island, New Hampshire, New York, Pennsylvania, Maine, Vermont and New Jersey. Find out when on Facebook.

FInally, I'd strongly suggest you go see Deer Tick, multiple times, which works out, because they are playing in multiple places! The one I'd suggest first though, is the benefit show for the John Boyle O'Reilly Club on April 19th taking place at said club. Don't know what it is? Look it up. What, do I have to do everything for you? JEEZ. You can also see Deer Tick in New Jersey, Philly and Pitsburgh, but hey, if you miss them, don't freak out. Their traveling around the US and Canada in May but they come back to the east coast in mid June. See them at The Frendly Gathering on June, 14th in Windham, Vermont, Paradise Rock Club in Boston on June, 15th, and finally at the Clearwater Festival in Croton-on-Hudson, New York on June, 17th.

This concludes my totally, incredibly mind-blowing list of completely unmissable east coast summer shows. Check back in and I'll have a list of completely unmissable east coast fall shows sometime in August. Keep on keepin' on, my fellow music freaks!
